Using a gps watch properly with Decathlon Coach
A GPS watch? What's it for? We're here to give you a few pointers! A GPS watch allows you to follow your core data in real time during your training sessions. DECATHLON COACH then allows you to analyse them with precision to make more rapid progress.
WHY SHOULD YOU USE A GPS WATCH WITH DECATHLON COACH?
The DECATHLON COACH app monitors your training through the GPS sensor on your smartphone. It is also possible to log the data from your training sessions with a GPS running watch.
A GPS watch measures the live, essential data from your training session:
- current speed,
- average speed,
- distance covered,
- but also your heart rate if equipped with a heart rate monitor (HRM).
The advantages of the watch are its compact size and durability. It is lighter and less fragile than a smartphone which can fall or let in water. Even the greatest athletes can be a little clumsy!
The more advanced models integrate training functions, calculate the height profile, laps covered or calories burned during your exercise. And you can then view and analyse all this information in the DECATHLON COACH app.
HOW DO I RECOVER THE INFORMATION FROM MY GPS WATCH?
Your lovely watch would be nothing without the information logged through the sweat of your wrist. DECATHLON COACH can recover data directly from KALENJI HR 500, ONCOACH and ONMOVE watches.
You can also import data from GPX/TCX files (the standard used by all GPS watches) to the decathloncoach.com website.
WHICH INFORMATION FROM MY GPS WATCH CAN BE ANALYSED WITH DECATHLON COACH?
DECATHLON COACH allows you to import all the runs logged on your GPS watch, so you can analyse them with incredible precision.
In particular, you will be able to:
- measure your progress,
- compare your training sessions over time,
- view your routes
- add notes giving your impressions
- compare training sessions with your friends
- even set them challenges!
- and some of the most technically advanced GPS watches also show the time
DECATHLON COACH also makes it possible to accurately monitor your heart rate if your watch measures this. This is the best indicator for measuring actual effort. The heart rate of each of your sessions is analysed and presented in graph form. You will be able to check whether you have run at the pace recommended in your training programme or if you are overly exerting our body. Always keep an eye on your heart!
As you can see, the purpose of a GPS watch is to measure your progress and stay motivated. Happy days!
